Here's another holiday project! We've already given this one, so it's safe to post. I made these hotpads, similar to my other ones. Several weeks ago, I saw some adorable rooster fabric which I intended to come back later and purchase. But, I've been put on some restrictions while pregnant, one of those is not being on my feet too much. The dr. said, "Absolutely no going out Christmas shopping." Nice! Thankfully, most my shopping was done, but I had a few little things I was still planning.

Thus began my brainstorming. How to come up with a rooster focused gift without rooster fabric? I decided applique would be my best option and dug through the fabric bins for the colors I wanted to go with the coupon holder and notebook I had purchased. I found a rooster image using Google and I traced the outline. I do need some work on my circles. haha!! And I would rather use binding than turning them, especially on the smaller hotpads. Those have both a layer of batting and Insul-bright. So, quilting in this way wasn't the best option. Live and learn!

What a fabulous gift basket. I love the rooster theme:)
ReplyDeleteGood for you for following Dr's orders and staying home and coming up with an alternative that is beautiful. I am naughty when it comes to a fabric I am intending to purchase.....I probably would have stopped on the way home from the Dr's office to get it!! Then I would have behaved! Hope all is going well. Take good care.
ReplyDeleteI've missed blogging and haven't been good about catching up with everybody....I missed this! I love the larger hot pad and really need to remember this next year. My MIL mentioned a few years back that she would love quilted hot pads for the table setting...I never remember. Happy New Year!!
